"Because He Lives"

"Like as Christ was raised up from the dead...
we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4.

I saw a man walking;
He was lonely I could tell.

I stopped and said, "Hello."
The man had a gentle face and sweet smile
    As he looked up to answer me.

I asked him his name....
He said, "My Child - do you not recognize me?
    I am your Lord."

I said, "That cannot be, for my Lord died
    three days ago at Calvary."

"I know! I was there when they crucified Him," I wept.

He said as he raised His hands to me, "Child, do you not see these scars?
    They are from the nails that bound me to the cross.
And here - this is from the crown of thorns
    that the soldiers placed upon my head."

"Child, I am HE that died that day at Calvary!
    For three days I was with my Father in Paradise
Just as I said I would be, then I arose as I promised."

I looked at Him first in wonder, then again in awe.
    He had the same gentle face and sweet smile of my Lord, it was true;

And, the wounds from Calvary.

Then I cried with the wonder of it all, for Yes!
    It truly was my Lord I had seen as

I saw a man walking.
